The president of China, Xi Jinping and the President of Costa Rica, Laura Chinchilla will sign this Monday an agreement for a $30 million financing to buy 50.000 solar panels, informed the Energy and Environment Ministery in a press release.

Once the solar panels are installed, 28.000 families will take advantage of them and the country will complete 100% of electrical coverage in homes, the Minister said.

René Castro, Energy and Environment Minister, added that one part of the panels will be used also to install a solar plant of 10 MW, enough to supply a small city as Ciudad Quesada or Cañas, needing almost 30 hectares for the solar farm.

During that meeting, presidents will also sign an agreement for a $100 million credit to finance the change of Costa Rican buses and taxis by vehicles that use clean technologies as electricity, gas or hybrids. This fund will also be used to buy trains.
